A family that needs financial aid must apply when submitting an application for admission. Trevor strongly encourages families to complete and submit the financial aid forms as soon as they receive them from our Financial Aid Office. It is in a family’s best interest to submit all pertinent information as soon as possible and no later than January 15.
| How do we apply for financial aid? | |
| Families must notify Trevor of their interest in financial aid when they apply for admission by checking the “Requesting Financial Aid” section at the bottom of the Trevor Application Form. The Financial Aid Office will send Parents’ Financial Statements (PFS) to those families when the forms become available in early October. | |
| Is there an option to complete our financial aid application online? | |
| Families may visit https://sss.ets.org/ to learn more about the online application for financial aid. | |
| Who sees the financial aid information that we submit? | |
| All information submitted in the financial aid process is strictly confidential. Only members of the Financial Aid Committee see this information. | |
| When should we submit the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS)? | |
| The Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) should be completed and submitted to School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) in Princeton, New Jersey, with a copy sent to Trevor, as soon as possible and no later than January 15. However, the School strongly recommends that families complete and mail the PFS no later than December 15 in order for the application to be completed in a timely manner. Please note the Financial Aid Committee does not review incomplete applications. | |
| What other information does the Trevor Financial Aid Office need from us? | |
The original copy of the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) form must be sent to School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) in Princeton, New Jersey. At the same time, a copy of the original completed PFS must be sent directly to our Financial Aid office. Trevor’s Financial Aid Office also requires the following additional information be sent directly to our office no later than February 1:
The School strongly recommends that families keep copies of all submitted forms. |
|
| What if our tax information is not available when we apply? | |
| A family should not delay an application for financial aid if the current year’s tax information is not available. The past year’s Form 1040 is necessary in order to begin the financial aid application process. However, the Trevor Financial Aid Office will need a copy of a family’s most current 1040 and W-2 forms as soon after February 15 as possible to make final decisions on financial aid. Please note the Financial Aid Committee does not review incomplete applications. | |
| What does it cost to apply for financial aid? | |
| Trevor does not charge an application fee to families who apply for financial aid. School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) charges $24 for the first school a family chooses to apply to, and $13 for each additional school to which a family applies. This fee is nonrefundable and payment must be included with the original Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) form that is sent to SSS in Princeton, New Jersey. In addition, if a family would like a Family Report, there is an additional cost to the family of $13. | |
| What if we are separated or divorced? Who is required to submit financial information? | |
| The Financial Aid Committee considers a family’s whole financial picture, reflecting all income and expenses. Domestic partners, step-parents and non-custodial parents must also submit financial information. If you have further questions about this, please contact our Financial Aid Office. |
