Trevor Day School faculty share a broad range of
talents. They come from diverse backgrounds, are technologically sophisticated
and have a wide variety of interests in and out of the classroom.
We have artists and musicians, poets and athletes, actors and dancers,
parents and grandparents who come together to create our wonderful
community. Some are only a few years into teaching; some have taught
for 30 years or more. They all share a passion for working with
young people.
Teachers in grades PreK-5 work in homerooms and create exciting
learning environments for their classes of approximately 14 students.
When half of the class goes to a specialist's room for art, music,
physical education of foreign language, the teacher is able to
work with the remaining half to focus on reading, writing, arithmetic
and other academic topics.
At Trevor, teachers and students are always together
in the classroom, the lunch room, the common room and after school
rehearsing performances,
working on robotics, putting out the newspaper or working to be
better athletes. This type of community allows students to be comfortable
interacting with adults and free to ask questions and ready to
take on the next challenge with confidence. Our common room design,
from the 4th grade through High School, along with our laptop program,
enables students to work with teachers either in person or virtually,
anywhere and anytime.
In a 6 day schedule, Middle and High School students regularly
work with 10-12 teachers in their academic program and more in
various extra-curricular activities. Trevor's design ensures that
teachers and students form a truly extraordinary community of learners.
