Levels 1, 2, and 3

Registration begins August 2010.

The Orff Schulwerk approach to music and dance education is based on the educational philosophy and pedagogy of the contemporary composer Carl Orff and his colleague Gunhild Keetman. The basic premise of the approach is that movement, speech, singing and instrumental playing form an inseparable unity in the music teaching process. The blending of these components contributes to the harmonious development of the child's physical, social, musical and artistic development.

Trevor offers Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 of the Orff Certification Program (OCP). This Orff Schulwerk Teacher Training course is open to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in music education as well as music teachers. Regular classroom teachers with a strong musical background are also invited to attend. Entry to level 2 or 3 is based upon successful completion of the previous level. Successful completion of all three levels will lead to Orff Teacher’s certification. College credit (undergraduate and graduate) may be arranged through SUNY Empire State College or Hunter College.

Levels Offered

Level 1 and level 2 or Level 1 and Level 3 will be offered during the Fall and the Spring semesters. The dates of Levels 2 and 3 will be based on registration – one will be offered each semester.
