Welcome to Trevor Day School

Trevor is a community that is deliberately designed to promote students’ engagement in their studies, their community, and their world. It is an environment that gives students the tools to balance a challenging college-prep academic program with dynamic and healthy lives outside of school. Intellectual challenge, engagement, and balance are cited over and over again by alumni, parents, faculty, and students as the school’s defining characteristics.
 
Students are at the center of all that we do. We are a coeducational, college-preparatory, Nursery through Grade 12 day school that values and respects the diversity of our student body. Rigor and happiness are at the core of our students’ experiences. One is not at the expense of the other.

The architecture of our school’s two campuses tangibly supports student learning. Within student-centered common spaces, teachers and students collaborate dynamically; together, they navigate a college-prep curriculum that leads to academic mastery, innovative thinking, and a global perspective. Both the LEED-Gold Middle and Upper School on East 95th Street, and our Lower School on West 88th Street and Central Park West, provide optimal educational environments that support Trevor’s mission to place students at the center of their learning. Signature programming in environmental studies, global education, and health & wellness further enhance the student experience.

We have educated young people for nearly 100 years. Over the course of this century we have challenged students to deeply grapple with the content and skills they are learning and employ their agency to ask tough questions that lead to deep understanding. Our pedagogy is one that promotes engagement and joy. The curriculum is guided by devoted and expert teachers who model collaboration, intellectual passion, and adaptability. Their aim is to guide students to become self-advocating and critical thinkers.  

When you visit one of our campuses, you’ll find that there is no back of the classroom at Trevor.  Everyone is seen and heard.
