Admissions

Apply to Middle & Upper School (6-12)

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in Trevor!

We hope that by exploring our website, reading our printed materials, and interacting with our community through virtual events this admissions season, you will gain a comprehensive sense of who we are. Our admissions process has been thoughtfully designed for you to learn about Trevor, and for us to learn about your family. We hope each interaction provides you with meaningful engagement, helpful information, and insight into the life of a Trevor student.

Trevor’s application for fall 2021 is now available online at www.ravenna-hub.com. Interviews, tours, and admissions events will be held virtually for the 2020-21 admissions season.

While this admissions season is different than what any of us expected, please know we are excited to meet you and introduce you to Trevor!

Please contact our Admissions office with any questions about the application process. While we are checking voicemail, we recommend e-mail communication at this time. Should you have questions about your Ravenna account, you may contact Ravenna at ravenna-help@communitybrands.com.

Application Components

List of 11 items.

  • Application Form

To begin the admissions process, please submit a completed Application Form, along with a $60 nonrefundable application fee. This fee is waived for applicants who are also applying for financial aid; please email finaid@trevor.org to obtain the fee waiver code. We encourage families to submit the Application Form as soon as possible, to ensure availability of an interview appointment. We also encourage you to include a photo of the applicant, but this is not mandatory.

    Due Date: November 15th
  • Interview and Tour

Interviews will be held virtually for the 2020-21 admissions season. After you have submitted the Application Form, we will contact you to schedule your family's interview appointment. The Application Form must be submitted before an interview appointment is scheduled.

An interview is a required part of the admissions process. While we do our best to schedule all families who submit an application, interview appointments are limited. We therefore encourage families to submit the Application Form as early as possible. After all appointment slots have filled, we create a waiting list for interviews.

All tours will be held virtually for the 2020-21 admissions season. We recommend all applicant families register for a virtual tour. Registration can be accessed in Ravenna.
  • Financial Aid

If your family is applying for financial aid, please answer “yes” to the relevant question on the Application Form; email our office at finaid@trevor.org to obtain a fee waiver code before you submit your application. Families requesting financial aid must complete a TADS application (Tuition Aid Data Services) by January 1st.

TADS applications will be available online at www.tads.com after October 1st. There is a single fee of $34 for submitting a TADS application, regardless of how many schools receive the financial aid summary report. There are no fee waivers for TADS applications.

    Due Date: January 1st
  • Parent Statement

Only one Parent Statement is required, but multi-household families may submit more information if they wish. The Parent Statement can be accessed in Ravenna.

Parents who are more comfortable submitting their responses in French or Spanish are encouraged to do so. Members of the Admissions Committee include French and Spanish speakers.

  • Student Questionnaire

The Student Questionnaire is designed for the student to complete; it consists of a survey of extracurricular interests and short answer questions. The Student Questionnaire can be accessed in Ravenna.

    Due Date: November 15th
  • ISAAGNY Common Essay (Grades 9-12)

All Upper School applicants are required to submit a response to one of the ISAAGNY Common Essay prompts. The ISAAGNY Common Essay can be accessed in Ravenna.

    Due Date: January 8th
  • Official School Transcripts

Please provide your child’s current school with a signed Transcript Release form by December 1st. This form authorizes the submission of your child’s cumulative school record (two prior years and current-year transcript, as well as any standardized testing) directly to Trevor. Official transcripts must come directly from the school and will be treated as confidential.

We understand that some schools will not release transcripts that include the current year until after January 8th. Please write our office if transcripts will not be released by the deadline so that we may make a note in your child's file.

    Due Date: January 8th
  • Math and English Teacher Recommendations

After November 15th, please request recommendations from your child’s current math and English teachers. This time frame ensures that your child's current teacher has had an opportunity to get to know them. Trevor uses the ISAAGNY common recommendation forms, which are sent as Delegated forms by families to teachers through Ravenna.

For 6th-grade applicants, Trevor accepts the single, combined ISAAGNY Common Recommendation encompassing math and English—but only if the student has the same teacher for both subjects. Students who have different teachers for these two subjects should submit separate ISAAGNY math and English recommendations.

All applicants to 7th–12th grades should submit separate ISAAGNY math and English recommendations.

    Due Date: January 8th
  • Standardized Testing

Trevor has implemented a one-year suspension of both the requirement and acceptance of ISEE and/or SSAT test scores in our Middle and Upper school admissions process. This policy includes all forms of the exams, including at-home versions. We have made this change in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on equal access to these exams for all students.
  • Personal and/or School Counselor Recommendations (Optional)

We recognize the 2020-21 school year may include a significant virtual component for many students. Therefore, we encourage families who choose to submit an additional recommendation to consider an academic teacher from a prior school year who provided a full year (or close to a full year) of in-person classroom instruction. Please delegate the recommendation form through Ravenna for this purpose.

Alternatively, if there is someone else you feel would provide important additional information about your child, please have them submit their recommendation through the form in Ravenna as well.

    Due Date: January 8th
