Application Components

List of 11 items.

  • Application

To begin the admission process, please submit a completed Application Form, along with a $60 nonrefundable application fee. This fee is waived for applicants who are also applying for financial aid; please call our office at 212.426.3380 to obtain the fee waiver code. We encourage families to submit the Application Form as soon as possible, to ensure availability of an interview appointment. We also encourage you to include a photo of the applicant, but this is not mandatory.

    Due date: November 15th

  • Interview and Campus Visit

After you have submitted the application, we will call to schedule your family's visit to Trevor. Your visit will run about two hours; it will include a tour of the campus, a student interview, and a conversation with the parent(s)/guardians(s).

An interview is a required part of the admissions process. While we do our best to schedule all families who submit an application, interview appointments are limited. We therefore encourage families to submit the application as early as possible. After all appointment slots have filled, we create a waiting list for interviews.

Note: You must submit the application before you can be scheduled for a visit.
  • Financial Aid

If your family is applying for financial aid, please answer “yes” to the relevant question on the application; call our office at 212.426.3380 to obtain a fee waiver code before you submit your application. Families requesting financial aid must complete a TADS application (Tuition Aid Data Services) by December 1st.

TADS applications will be available online at www.tads.com after October 1st. There is a single fee of $34 for submitting a TADS application, regardless of how many schools receive the financial aid summary report. There are no fee waivers for TADS applications.

    Due date: December 1st
  • Parent Statement

Only one Parent Statement is required, but multi-household families may submit more information if they wish. The Parent Statement can be accessed in Ravenna.

Parents who are more comfortable submitting their responses in French or Spanish are encouraged to do so. Members of the Admissions Committee include French and Spanish speakers.

  • Student Questionnaire

The Student Questionnaire is designed for the student to complete; it consists of a survey of extracurricular interests and short answer questions. The Student Questionnaire can be accessed in Ravenna.

    Due date: November 15th
  • ISAAGNY Common Essay (Grades 9-12)

All Upper School applicants are required to submit a response to one of the ISAAGNY Common Essay prompts. The ISAAGNY Common Essay can be accessed in Ravenna.

    Due date: January 8th
  • Official School Transcripts

Please provide your child’s current school with a signed Transcript Release form by December 1st. This form authorizes the submission of your child’s cumulative school record (for the prior and current school year) directly to Trevor. Official transcripts must come directly from the school and will be treated as confidential.

We understand that some schools will not release transcripts that include the current year until after January 8th. Please write or call our office if transcripts will not be released by the deadline so that we may make a note in your child's file.

    Due date: January 8th
  • Math and English Teacher Recommendations

After November 15th, please request recommendations from your child’s current math and English teachers. This time frame ensures that your child's current teacher has had an opportunity to get to know them. Trevor uses the ISAAGNY common recommendation forms, which are sent as Delegated forms by families to teachers through Ravenna.

For 6th-grade applicants, Trevor accepts the single, combined ISAAGNY Common Recommendation encompassing math and English—but only if the student has the same teacher for both subjects. Students who have different teachers for these two subjects should submit separate ISAAGNY math and English recommendations.

All applicants to 7th–12th grades should submit separate ISAAGNY math and English recommendations.

    Due date: January 8th
  • Standardized Testing

All applicants to 6th–12th grades must either take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) or the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE). We accept either exam; only one is required, and we have no preference as to which test an applicant takes. We do advise scheduling an early test date, so that testing can be completed no later than January 8th.

The SSAT may be scheduled by directly contacting the Enrollment Management Association (previously SSATB) at 609.683.4440 or www.ssat.org. The Enrollment Management Association administers tests for boarding and day school applicants across America and internationally. Trevors school code is 2746; you will need it to authorize the release of your child's scores directly to Trevor.

Applicants may schedule the ISEE by contacting the Educational Records Bureau (ERB) at 212.672.9800 or www.erblearn.org. The ERB administers tests for member schools of the Independent School Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY). Trevors ERB school code is 336331; you will need it to authorize the release of your childs scores directly to Trevor.

    Due date: January 8th
  • Personal and/or School Counselor Recommendations (Optional)

If there is someone whom you feel would provide important additional information about your child, please feel welcome to have them submit their recommendation through the form in Ravenna.
