Our admissions process has been purposefully structured for you to learn about Trevor, and for us to learn about your family. Lower School Admissions Events

Registration is available online at To attend our final Middle and Upper School Open House of the fall, you will need to create a Ravenna account (no application is required). From there, you may locate Trevor in the directory of New York schools, click “Exploring", and "Upcoming Events." The Open House will take place on Wednesday, October 16th, from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at 312 East 95th Street in Manhattan.

  • Age Requirements

    When creating a class, we carefully consider the many dimensions of a balanced early learning or elementary classroom—including students’ gender, personality, diversity, ability, and age range. We give close attention to each child’s development as well as the class configuration. General birthday guidelines are listed below. We are happy to discuss your child’s age and placement at your Child Visit and Parent Meeting.

    Nursery applicants:
    Applicants to Nursery must turn 2.8 by August 31st of the year they hope to enter Trevor. (Birthday between September 1, 2016 –2018)

    Pre-K applicants:
    Applicants to Pre-K must turn four by August 31st of the year they hope to enter Trevor. (Birthday between September 1, 2015 –August 31, 2016)

    Kindergarten applicants:
    Applicants to Kindergarten must turn five by August 31st of the year they hope to enter Trevor. (Birthday between September 1, 2014 –August 31, 2015)

    Grades 1–5 applicants:
    Applicants to Grades 1–5 must be the appropriate minimum age for the grade to which they are applying. For example, an applicant to 1st grade must be six by August 31st of the year s/he is entering 1st grade.

    To begin the admission process, please submit a completed application, along with a $60 non-refundable application fee by December 1, 2019. Kindly contact our office at 212.426.3355 or if your family needs an application fee waiver.
  • Child Visit / Parent Meeting

    We will contact you to schedule your Child Visit and Parent Meeting. Typically this will happen at least 24 hours after you have submitted the Application, and as soon as we are able to reach you.

    The combined Child Visit and Parent Meeting is scheduled for roughly 45 minutes. The visit is carefully designed as a one-on-one interview to meet each candidate individually. Your child will spend approximately 30 minutes with a member of our admissions team. We also meet separately for about 15 minutes with the parent(s) or guardian(s) who accompany the child..
  • Opportunities to Visit

    Our “Take a Look” Parent Tours are an opportunity to experience the Lower School in action, as well as to meet current parents, faculty, and administration. Go to to register for a visit. After creating your account, locate Trevor in the directory of New York Schools and click on “upcoming events.”

  • Confidential School Report Form (ISAAGNY Form)

    The Confidential School Report Form may be sent via Ravenna directly to your child’s school and returned directly to the Admissions Office. This form should be completed after Thursday, November 15, 2019, so that it reflects the first trimester of your child’s progress. You will be able to request appropriate forms through the Ravenna system by assigning the form to a teacher/administrator via email.

    A transcript release form may be required by your childs current school to allow the transmission of previous reports. You may print the form and share it with your childs school, as necessary.

    All completed forms are due by Tuesday, January 7, 2020.
  • Testing

    Trevor does not require testing for applicants entering Nursery through 1st grade. For students entering 2nd–5th grades, we participate in testing programs administered by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB). Students entering 2nd through 4th grade must take the ISEE Primary (Independent School Entrance Exam). Students applying to 5th grade must take the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam).   • Financial Aid

    We encourage families applying to Nursery through 5th grade to complete the TADS (Tuition Aid Data Services) Financial Aid application as soon as possible after submission of the Application for Admission. The deadline is December 1st. TADS applications will be available online at beginning October 1st. There is a single $34 fee of to submit a TADS application, regardless of how many schools receive the financial aid summary report. There are no fee waivers for TADS applications.   • Notification

    Trevor Day School complies with the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY) common notification dates. Decisions will be posted in your Ravenna account.
