At Trevor, students spend as much time building, designing, and understanding technology as they do consuming it. We begin discussions about computer science concepts and skills in Kindergarten. Students are introduced early and often to the idea of agency and control over technology. Our classrooms are infused with different types of devices like Chromebooks and iPads so students become facile with many different types of devices and applications.
Kyle holds a BA from Williams College and an MSEd from Bank Street College of Education. She also completed NYSAIS's Justice, Equity, and Diversity Institute (JEDI). She is the co-leader of NYSAIS' Beginning Teachers Institute. Kyle comes to Trevor from the Calhoun School, where she was the 3rd-grade STEAM and cluster teacher. She was also an Instructional Tech Specialist and led affinity groups. Prior to working at Calhoun, Kyle worked at The Town School, The Dalton School, and the Spence School. She has taught every grade from Kindergarten through 5th grade. In her free time, Kyle enjoys exploring the city with her puppy Olive, knitting, and finding curriculum inspiration in unexpected places. In making the decision to join Trevor, Kyle was attracted to the warmth she felt upon stepping onto campus and the project-based, child-centered approach to educating students.
