“I am able to proudly say that I am a part of a community that is proactive and takes pride in its students.”
Meet Rashaun. Rashaun joined Trevor in the 7th grade and will graduate with the Class of 2022.
English (with Mr. Smith) and engineering (with Mr. Tam) are currently his favorite courses. He finds his English elective entitled “Hell is Other People” particularly relevant in today’s climate; it explores how characters are tormented not only by themselves and the people they encounter, but by society as a whole. In his engineering class, Rashaun had an opportunity to shine through hands-on applications including building the most successfully aerodynamic paper airplane, forming a bridge that held one of the heaviest weights, and designing a fully functioning prototype of a self-stirring coffee mug.
Rashaun participates in a variety of extracurricular activities at Trevor including the Student Diversity Committee, Admissions Ambassadors, and as a leader of SOCA (Students of Color Affinity). He is on the Varsity Boys Soccer team and the Varsity Boys Basketball team, where this year he helped lead the team to a NYCAL Championship and a very close second-place finish in the state tournament. One of his most memorable moments at Trevor was when the NBA’s 2018 draft prospects practiced in Trevor’s gymnasium.
Rashaun plans to attend medical school after college and hopes to become an orthopedic surgeon. #MeetRashaun
