Trevor Signature Programming News

  • Monica Lorenzo, Director of Health, Wellness & Physical Education, is developing new programs in all divisions, unique to Trevor, that promote mindfulness, beneficial habits, science-based exercise, and lifelong fitness.

  • This year, 19 seniors are on track to earn an Environmental Studies Concentration. They do so by taking Advanced Environmental Studies and a number of elective courses before they graduate, chosen from: Advanced Environmental Science: Energy, Ecosystems, and the Future, Advanced Marine Biology, Advanced Economics, and Advanced Statistics. To earn the Concentration, students also collaborate on a final project to leave a legacy for Trevor and the planet. This cohort is developing a formal proposal to install solar panels on our buildings, which they will present to the administration at the end of the year.

  • Trevor’s Global Studies Program brought four student ambassadors to Kenya in October for the Round Square International Conference. Trevor will hold two international trips in February, one to Morocco and one to Costa Rica. We are also eagerly awaiting short-term exchanges—we will host students from Peru, Germany, and France while Trevor students head off to Peru and Morocco. During Spring Break, language immersion trips will take place in China, Spain, and France, while a trip to the University of Oxford and London, England will be focused on the Classics.

  • Mosaic, a new empathy and inclusion curriculum, was launched this school year. Mosaic was collaboratively designed by Trevor educators over the course of an entire academic year to serve Nursery through grade 12 students. Facilitated by faculty twice per month, its overarching goal is to prepare young people for global citizenship. Lessons are themed, varied, and developmentally appropriate. For instance, "Thank You, Neighbor," a 2nd-grade Mosaic lesson, reflects on how gratitude impacts our daily lives. "Landscaping Beauty," a 12th-grade Mosaic lesson, looks at the environmental costs of landscaping and the things people do to control nature for their own enjoyment.
Trevor’s Global Studies Program ensures that all students have the opportunity to travel outside of the United States to actively learn about the world.
