Trevor Thursday Digest - October 7, 2021

Dear Trevor Community:

There have been many big and small changes to our program and school environment this academic year, bringing us all a little closer to normal. More in-person learning. Fewer quarantines. More music. More athletics. A bit more freedom to be together. And, hopefully, a lot less worry.

And on this path toward a new normal, I am really looking forward to our first in-person, schoolwide event since March of 2020. Homecoming 2021 is the perfect setting to reconvene as a community. It is a celebration of a new school year, which also honors our history and traditions. It is on Randall’s Island—a beautiful outdoor space that can welcome the entire Trevor community safely. It is during one of the most splendid seasons to be a New Yorker. And it is a day that offers a plethora of activities for everyone: field games for Lower and Middle School students. A Fun Run for all. Picnics. Giveaways. Spiritwear sales. An alumni gathering. Exciting boys and girls varsity soccer matches. And, of course, a visit from the Trevor Dragon.

Although we have all spent an inordinate amount of time in our homes over the past 19 months, many of the characteristics that define a home have been in short supply. Extended family and friends. Shared food and drink. Celebration. Closeness. Camaraderie. Trevor Homecoming welcomes us all back, when it feels like we’ve been a long way from home.

Homecoming 2021 takes place on Saturday, October 16th, starting at 9:00 am on Randall’s Island Fields 83 & 84. Please also support our Trevor Dragons by livestreaming the Girls JV and Varsity Volleyball games on Friday, October 15th, starting at 4:00 pm. Links will be released in advance.

My thanks to our faculty, staff, and parent organizers including the Athletics Office and coaches (especially Alexi Donnelly who is the point person on all things Homecoming), the physical education teachers, the maintenance, security, and marketing teams, Carolina Bas, Alexis Crespin, Lisa Mark, Janice Wen, and Steve Yesner.

Welcome home, Trevor. I hope to see many of you there.

Warmly,

Scott R. Reisinger
