The Goodman Building

Trevor bears the great honor and responsibility of educating students within the walls of the Andrew Goodman Building on 1 West 88th Street. It is named for Andrew Goodman, an alumnus of the Walden School. As a part of Trevor's rich heritage, the Walden School merged with the New Lincoln School in 1988, and the New Walden Lincoln School then joined The Day School in 1991. A passionate advocate for fairness and equality, Goodman grew up in a family committed to activism and social justice. In 1964, Goodman volunteered for the Freedom Summer project, to register African-Americans to vote. On his very first day in Mississippi, he and two other civil rights workers were murdered in retaliation for their efforts. Goodman’s indelible legacy changed the face of the Civil Rights Movement and the nation, and it endures as a model for inclusion and social action within the Trevor community.
