Visit Trevor

Trevor Day School’s Nursery and Pre-Kindergarten curriculum encourages children to create, collaborate, and engage with new ideas. So often, a child’s first question is “Why?” When Trevor students ask “Why?” we engage their natural curiosity and empower them to seek creative solutions through hands-on learning.

Preschool is an engaging first step within an independent school setting and into a Trevor education. Trevor's Nursery & Pre-K classes have dynamic, play-based curricula that spark wonder in children. Steps away from Central Park—the Nursery program is available for children ages 2.8 and older, with half-day and full-day options. Then, at age 4, full-day Pre-K is available.

Two expert teachers in every classroom provide a nurturing setting in which students encounter foundational academic experiences. Children explore language arts through poems, songs, rhyming games, alphabet books, and projects. Students study the basics of math through exercises involving number recognition, counting, and identifying patterns and shapes. They also explore science and technology through hands-on explorations that engage their senses and natural curiosity.

Additional enriching experiences, provided by specialists in art, music, physical education, library, and Spanish, are a part of every week, as are outdoor play and trips to Central Park—right in our backyard. Visit our nursery curriculum pageand pre-kindergarten curriculum page for more information on the skills and habits of mind that Trevor students develop.

Trevor’s Nursery and Pre-K programs are located at Trevor West—our Lower School campus on W 88th Street and Central Park West, in Manhattan. The newly-renovated building for students in Nursery through Grade 5 features state-of-the-art classrooms, an outdoor terrace, a dedicated library, cafeteria, auditorium, full-sized gymnasium, and Trevor’s signature Common Room.

The Lower School hosts "Take a Look" parent tours on Thursday mornings in the spring, fall, and early winter. Call 212.426.3355 to inquire about a visit. You can also learn more about the Trevor experience in Nursery, Pre-K, and other Lower School grades, by downloading the Lower School viewbook.
