Trevor 2 Stony Brook 5

New York— A beautiful morning brought a talented Stony Brook (SB) side to the Bronx at the Fieldston School.  Trevor Day knew they would be tested and were more than up for the hotly contested match.

SB struck first with an efficient transition to their talented target striker, Mo Romeus, who beat a defender 1 v 1 before finishing in the low corner beating Freshman goalie Elias Jones.  Down 1-0 at halftime, Trevor Day was committed to a plan to tie the game within the start of the second half. About 3 minutes in, game captain Owen Nesci, served a great ball from the right flank to AmonRa Kamit who came out of the scrum and knocked it into the goal for his first tally of the year.

As both teams constantly maneuvered for possession within the middle third of the field it would be the opposition’s set pieces that would put out any Dragon fire on the day.  PSAA all-star, Owen Sobel, closed out the scoring for SB placing a nice hit to the low corner making it 5 goals on the day for his squad.

Goal of the day came from Trevor Day midfielder, Ian George Sherrington, who after battling a stomach bug, was able to settle himself and strike a 25 yard volley into the top bin to keep his team in the game!  Defenders Mikel Saralegui and game captain, Briggs Sobol, were outstanding in the backline and demonstrated high soccer IQ throughout the match along with Alex Brooks who locked down the midfield.

Trevor Day will face NYCAL opponent, Loyola, in their first league match of the year on Monday, September 9th at 3:45pm on a Randall’s Island field #70.
